Environment

Only in an intact environment is it possible for us to continue producing and selling enjoyable and affordable food in the future. That is why we use natural resources responsibly.

As HACO Group, we strive for climate neutrality in the long term. Wherever possible, we also demand environmentally friendly behavior from our partners in the supply chain (see Sustainable Procurement). And we are continuously reducing our CO₂ footprint at all stages of the value chain. For example, by increasing the share of green electricity, generating part of the required electrical energy ourselves, and reducing energy requirements.

In doing so, we are supporting the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals specifically in the following areas: We want to ensure clean water for all, enable affordable and reliable energy, and take immediate action to combat climate change.

What does that mean exactly?

Reducing our carbon footprint
We reduce our CO₂ footprint by continuously defining and implementing measures: In 2024, we will know the CO₂ footprint of all companies in the HACO Group. By 2030, we will reduce our CO₂ emissions by 50 percent. By 2050, we will achieve Group-wide CO₂ neutrality.

Reduce waste and foodwaste
We are also strengthening the circular economy and reducing waste and food waste in all our companies by 60 percent by 2027.

Recyclable packaging
We will offer our customers sustainable and recyclable packaging by 2030, reduce water consumption by 20 percent Group-wide by 2027, and continuously improve emissions and immissions with a view to air quality.

Realize sustainability code
In addition, we aim to have assessed all our companies in accordance with the EcoVadis sustainability code by 2024.
