Focus on Sustainability: Emission Measurements at Coffee Roasters

The Haco Group is pursuing a determined course to improve emission values and save energy in all its plants.

There are currently three coffee roasting machines in operation in Malaysia, all of which are equipped with thermal afterburning. These comply with local legal requirements, but require a high energy input and lead to a characteristic coffee smell in the surrounding area as well as visible smoke from the chimneys.

In order to obtain a detailed picture of the emissions from our dark coffee roasts, extensive measurements were carried out in close cooperation with the manufacturer of the roasting systems and a specialized measuring institute from Germany as well as the HACO Switzerland/HACO Asia Pacific team.

The measurement results obtained will serve as a guide to identify the necessary technologies that will enable the Haco Group to achieve its emission reduction and energy efficiency targets. This step is in line with Haco Asia Pacific's commitment to promote environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and to provide its customers with high-quality, sustainably produced coffee products.
