BIGFOOD

Into the Future with Climate Protection

Our motto at Bigfood is to not only jump as high as we have to, but as high as the most modern level of technological development allows us to. Our goal is very clear - we want to set our direct emissions to 0 through avoidance and reduction alone.

Johannes is dedicated to a good cause

Johannes Kreuzer was allowed to write a bachelor's thesis on the ecological assessment of food as a working student at Bigfood as early as June 2021. Since then, as sustainability manager, he not only calculates product-specific footprints for Bigfood's customers - a competence that very few food companies have. He also calculates our company-wide carbon footprint, including our entire value chain. With a switch to renewable energy from northern Germany and an electrified vehicle fleet, we are reducing our own emissions, by over 80%, and working closely with our supply chain on a wide range of projects. With particular ambition, the 26-year-old is currently involved in agricultural and research projects on state-of-the-art organic farming methods in order to also bind CO2 here, promote biodiversity and increase the climate resilience of our raw materials.
